Habitat:Foundinshrubbyareasduringthe breedingseason,includingbrushyfields,forestedges,forestclearings, andfencerows. Foundinsimilarhabitatinmigrationinwinter,but alsofoundinsuburbanandagriculturalareas. Diet:Feedsheavilyonseedsinallseason,but supplementswithinsectsduringthesummerbreedingseason. Alsofeeds fledglingsinsects. Freshbuds,nectar,andsmallfruitsarealso consumed. Behavior:Foragesonthegroundorlowin vegetation. Nesting:ThenestofaCommonRosefinchisacup builtofgrassesandweedstems,linedwithfinergrasses,roots,andhair.  Itisplacedlowinabushorsmalltree,usuallywithin4feetofthe ground.Thefemalelaysbetween3and6eggs,andshealoneincubatesthem.  Oncetheeggshatch,bothparentshelptoraisetheyoung. Song:Slow,flute-likesongwithemphasisplaced onalternativesyllables. Migration:Migratory,withbreedingpopulations stretchingfromnorthernEuropethroughAsia,toeasternRussia. In winter,foundinIran,China,India,andlocallyelsewhereinsoutheastern Asia. Feeders:Willcometofeedersforavarietyof commonlyoffereditems,includingmilletandotherofferedseeds, peanuts,suet,andfruit.
