Design: Thirty-twointernationalexperts,fourmethodologists,andfourcriticalillnesssurvivorsmetvirtuallyatleastmonthly.Allsectiongroupsgatheredface-to-faceatannualSocietyofCriticalCareMedicinecongresses;virtualconnectionsincludedthoseunabletoattend.Aformalconflictofinterestpolicywasdevelopedaprioriandenforcedthroughouttheprocess.Teleconferencesandelectronicdiscussionsamongsubgroupsandwholepanelwerepartofthe guidelines’development.Ageneralcontentreviewwascompletedface-to-facebyallpanelmembersinJanuary2017.
